Get to know Elliot Reid

Introducing Elliot Reid, one of our Sales Representatives who started with the company in November and is located at our Stirling depot.

We were keen to find out more about Elliot, and his industry experience.

Tell us about your industry experience?

I worked on Scalpsie Farm, on the Isle of Bute as my first job after finishing college. I worked there for just over two years, gaining a great understanding of the farming business. I enjoyed my time at Scalpsie, but I was keen to develop my skills even further and I knew it was time for a change.

When looking for a new job, I came across a large-scale herb farm in Norfolk, run by Stangroom Brothers. From working there, I gained great insight into all different types of machinery. It was also very interesting to experience a way of farming that I was not so used to.

Why did you want to join the HRN team?

I saw the role at HRN as a more long-term career for myself and knew that they had depots throughout Scotland and are well known in the farming and plant machinery industry. I’ve always had an interest in machinery and enjoy working and helping people. Working with HRN will hopefully give me the opportunity to learn and develop my skill set further and it’s nice to be part of a company that is very forward-thinking and invests in its future.

What are you enjoying about your role & what are your hopes for your HRN career?

I am enjoying meeting new people and visiting different farms. I thrive on finding the right machine for the farmer(s) and to be able to offer that exceptional customer experience.
I hope that in the future I’ll gain a large clientele and be a part of the growing Kubota franchise in Scotland.

When you’re not selling farming machinery, what do you like to do to relax?

I help my dad with his digger contracting business. I also enjoy attending the shows with our local Young Farmer’s Club. To really switch off, I enjoy travelling and exploring new locations with my girlfriend, though with the current Covid situation we haven’t managed to go exploring recently! I am looking forward to being able to go to different places again once it is safe to do so.
